Casas de Pedralva are a rare and unique restoration Project of an entire rural village in the Algarve. Situated at Vila do Bispo, in the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, the Pedralva village comprises 24 rebuilt country houses, each poetically named after the most beautiful beaches of this region. From its ancient 200 inhabitants, in the last decade only 7 remained, and most of the houses were completely abandoned and deteriorated. Benefiting from a magnificent location, Pedralva village was a pile of ruins, and it was shaped to fulfill a dream… that of António Ferreira, that has rewritten the village history, rebuilding it with courage and determination. Aldeia de Pedralva is an intense “passion” Project shared among friends and relatives that live “in loco”. It took them two years to rebuild the village, keeping the original design as much as possible, and a new Aldeia was born, being typically Portuguese, and at the same time an active, sustainable, loving, trendy, and mystic village. The rebuilding project tried to keep the houses authentic materials and traditional rustic style. Houses have 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms, a fully-equipped kitchenette, a living-room, and a bathroom, offering seclusion, utmost privacy and modern comfort. With their white façades and colorful doors, these houses look like an enchanted nativity scene… Besides a restaurant, and a gourmet grocery store, Aldeia de Pedralva has its local vegetable garden. Mr. Fernando, a Pedralva resident, is responsible for the veggies and fruits, that guests eat during their stay. He supplies the local grocery store, but it is always possible to buy the vegetables straight from the garden and taste fresh earth products.
